RI lunches - Epistemic progress in the university

Presentation by Iris Lechner - PhD student Faculty of Humanities, VU

In this RI lunch PhD student Iris Lechner will discuss the preliminary findings of an online three-round Delphi study. The aim of the study is to come to a consensus based understanding of the core epistemic responsibilities of universities – as having to do with understanding, rationality, explanation as well as the dissemination and exchange of knowledge. Based on the results of the first round consensus was reached on six core epistemic responsibilities, including research integrity. The outcome of the study will form the basis of an assessment tool which can give insight into how well universities are meeting their epistemic responsibilities, in light of the ever increasing bureaucratization and marketization of universities.
